전주시 주거복지센터(센터장 오은주)와 우정회 집수리봉사단(단장 김용안)은 10일 완산구 동서학동의 한 장애인 가구를 찾아 주거환경 개선 봉사활동과 마을 노인들을 위한 국수 나눔 행사를 진행했다.

이날 전주지역의 자영업자 모임 봉사단체인 ‘우정회 집수리봉사단’은 주말을 반납한 채 주거복지 사각지대 이웃을 위한 16번째 ‘드림하우스’를 완공했다.

이날 봉사활동에는 우정회 회원과 가족, 주거복지센터 직원 등 30여 명이 참여해, 노후화된 주택에서 어렵게 생활하는 장애인 남매 가구를 위해 △옥상 방수 △단열 창호 설치 △싱크대 교체 △도배와 장판 시공 등 집 안팎을 꼼꼼히 살피며 쾌적한 보금자리를 마련했다.

이번 지원 대상은 전주시 주거복지센터를 통해서 알게 된 기초생활보장 수급자이자 등록 장애인 가구로, 지난해 모친상 이후 여동생이 장애가 있는 오빠를 돌보며 거주하고 있는 중년 남매 가구다.

무엇보다 이번 활동은 지역사회의 협력이 돋보였다. 집수리 및 나눔 활동에 필요한 재원은 △우정회 회원들의 회비 △동서학동 주민센터의 사례관리비 △한국전기안전공사의 후원금에 더해 사정을 딱하게 여긴 마을 주민들이 십시일반 모은 성금이 더해져 그 의미를 더했다.

뿐만아니라 봉사단 부녀회에서는 가정의 달 5월을 맞아 마을 노인들을 초청해 따뜻한 국수와 간식을 대접하며 이웃 간의 정을 나누기도 했다.

On the 10th, the Jeonju City Housing Welfare Center (Director Oh Eun-ju) and the Friendship Association Home Repair Volunteer Group (Director Kim Yong-an) conducted volunteer activities to improve the living environment for a disabled household in Dongseohak-dong, Wansan-gu, and organized a noodle-sharing event for the elderly in the village.

On this day, the 'Friendship Association Home Repair Volunteer Group,' a group of self-employed individuals in the Jeonju area, completed their 16th 'Dream House' for neighbors in housing welfare blind spots, returning their weekends to complete the project.

About 30 people participated in the volunteer activities, including members and families of the Friendship Association, as well as staff from the Housing Welfare Center. They meticulously inspected and improved the inside and outside of the house for a disabled sibling household living in an aging home, providing a comfortable living space by installing roof waterproofing, insulation windows, replacing sinks, and painting and flooring.

The recipients of this support were a middle-aged sibling household consisting of a basic livelihood security beneficiary and a registered disabled person, who have been taking care of their disabled brother since their mother's passing last year.

Above all, this activity highlighted the cooperation of the local community. The funds necessary for repair and sharing activities were supplemented by the membership fees of the Friendship Association, the case management fees of the Dongseohak-dong Community Center, and sponsorship from the Korea Electric Safety Corporation, along with donations collected by sympathetic villagers, adding to the significance of the event.

Furthermore, the Women's Association of the volunteer group invited elderly villagers to share warm noodles and snacks in celebration of Family Month in May, fostering neighborly bonds and sharing warmth among the community.
