전북교육청은 군산지역 특수학교 과밀 해소와 특수교육대상학생의 교육 선택권 보장을 위해 2027년 개교 예정인 가칭 군산지음학교 학부모 설명회를 개최했다.

7일 군산교육지원청 위(Wee)센터 시청각실에서 열린 설명회에는 군산지역 특수교육대상학생 학부모 등 100여 명이 참석했다.

군산시 대야면 옛 대야초등학교 광산분교장에 설립되는 군산지음학교는 유치원, 초등학교, 중학교, 고등학교, 전공과 과정을 운영하는 21학급 규모의 특수학교다.

학교는 학생들의 교육적 요구를 반영한 맞춤형 교육과정과 문화·예술·체육 분야 특색 교육과정을 운영해 장애 학생들의 소질과 적성 계발을 지원할 계획이다.

이날 설명회에서는 학교 개요와 교육과정, 전·입학 학생 배치 기준, 전공과 입학 전형 등 학교 운영 전반에 대한 안내가 이뤄졌다. 또한 질의응답을 통해 학부모들의 궁금증을 해소하고 현장 의견을 수렴했다.

최재일 유초등특수교육과장은 “이번 설명회가 개교를 앞둔 군산지음학교에 대한 이해를 높이고 학부모와 신뢰를 쌓는 계기가 되길 바란다”며 “지역사회와 공감대를 형성하며 안정적인 개교 준비에 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.

The Jeonbuk Provincial Office of Education held a parent briefing session for the upcoming establishment of the provisional Gunsan Special School, scheduled to open in 2027, to alleviate overcrowding in the Gunsan area and ensure educational choice for students with special needs.

The briefing session, held at the Wee Center auditorium in Gunsan Education Support Center on the 7th, was attended by around 100 parents of students with special educational needs in the Gunsan area.

The Gunsan Special School, to be established at the former Gwangsan branch of Dae-ya Elementary School in Daya-myeon, Gunsan, will operate as a 21-class special school offering kindergarten, elementary, middle, high school, and specialized courses.

The school plans to provide tailored educational programs reflecting students' educational needs and specialized programs in culture, arts, and physical education to support the development of students' talents and aptitudes.

During the briefing session, information was provided on the school overview, educational programs, criteria for student placement, and admissions procedures for specialized courses. Additionally, a question-and-answer session was held to address parents' concerns and gather feedback.

Choi Jae-il, the head of the Special Education Division for Elementary and Secondary Schools, expressed hope that the briefing session would enhance understanding of the upcoming Gunsan Special School and build trust with parents. He stated, "We will do our best to establish a stable foundation for the school's opening by forming a consensus with the local community and parents."
