정읍시는 성평등가족부 공공생리대 지원 시범사업에 선정돼 오는 10일까지 시내 공공시설 18곳에 무료 생리대 지급기 30대를 설치하고 무상 지원을 시작한다고 밝혔다.

이번 사업은 생리대가 갑자기 필요한 시민 누구나 공공시설에서 편리하게 이용할 수 있도록 마련된 생활밀착형 공공서비스다. 시는 우선 수동형 지급기를 설치하고, 8월 말까지 자동형 지급기 20대를 추가로 설치해 9월부터 본격 운영할 계획이다.

정읍시는 국비 9,761만4,000원을 확보해 올해 12월까지 사업을 운영한다. 전체 설치 규모는 수동형 30대와 자동형 20대 등 총 50대로, 향후 공공시설 30곳에 순차적으로 확대 설치된다.

1차 설치 장소는 시청 본청과 제2청사, 시립중앙도서관, 기적의도서관, 가족센터, 평생학습관, 청소년문화체육관, 여성문화관, 일부 행정복지센터, 체육트레이닝센터, 내장산국민여가캠핑장, 동학농민기념관, 내장산자연휴양림 등이다.

시는 재고 관리와 월별 이용 실적 점검, 만족도 조사를 통해 운영 과정의 불편 사항을 개선해 나갈 방침이다. 지급기 설치 위치는 정읍시 누리집에서 확인할 수 있다.

이학수 시장은 “공공생리대 지원사업은 시민들이 갑작스러운 상황에서도 불편을 겪지 않도록 돕는 생활밀착형 공공서비스”라며 “누구나 필요한 순간 안심하고 이용할 수 있도록 지원을 확대해 나가겠다”고 말했다.

Jeongeup City has been selected for a pilot project to provide free sanitary pads in public facilities by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family. They announced that starting from the 10th of next month, they will begin providing 30 free sanitary pad dispensers in 18 public facilities in the city.

This project is a community-based public service designed to allow any citizen in need of sanitary pads to conveniently access them in public facilities. The city will first install manual dispensers and plan to add 20 automatic dispensers by the end of August to start full operation in September.

Jeongeup City has secured 97,614,000 won in government funding to operate the project until December this year. The total installation scale will include 30 manual dispensers and 20 automatic dispensers, totaling 50, which will be sequentially expanded to 30 public facilities in the future.

The first installation locations include the City Hall main building and annex, the municipal central library, the Miracle Library, the Family Center, the Lifelong Learning Center, the Youth Culture and Sports Center, the Women's Cultural Center, some administrative welfare centers, the Sports Training Center, the Naejangsan National Leisure Camping Site, the Donghak Farmers Memorial Hall, and the Naejangsan Natural Recreation Forest.

The city plans to improve any inconveniences in the operation process through inventory management, monthly usage checks, and satisfaction surveys. The locations of the dispensers can be checked at the Jeongeup City website.

Mayor Lee Hak-soo stated, "The public sanitary pad support project is a community-based public service that helps citizens avoid inconvenience even in sudden situations," and added, "We will expand support so that anyone can use it with peace of mind when needed."
