On the 15th, Jeollabuk Special Self-Governing Province conducted the second trial operation of the "Open Governor's Office," where the voices of residents are directly reflected in the provincial government, at the governor's office on the first floor of the provincial office building.
The "Open Governor's Office" is a participatory communication model where the governor goes beyond simple complaints reception and processing to directly listen to policy proposals, institutional improvements, and current issues, seeking solutions together with residents.
Jeollabuk Special Self-Governing Province received a total of 15 opinions from residents from September 17 to 23, and after considering the necessity of direct dialogue with the governor, specificity of content, urgency, and feasibility of solutions, 8 issues were selected for face-to-face discussions.
Unlike the open dialogue format of the first trial operation, the second operation proceeded with individual consultations where residents and the governor sat face-to-face in a 1:1 setting. In particular, the respective department heads and staff participated together for each agenda item, meticulously listening to on-site voices, and engaging in in-depth discussions on issues and improvement measures.
Key agenda items discussed on this day included relaxing accommodation industry standards for profitable hotel operations, support for foreign investment companies, support for small business franchise development, damage to cultural properties due to power line installations, establishment of an AI meeting minutes system within the provincial office network, improvement of agricultural land use surveys, support for marine sports training facilities, activation of animal manure solid fuel and energy self-reliant village creation, among others.
This operation focused on accurately understanding the specific situations and demands on-site through dense dialogues with residents, and seeking policy responses together.
Based on the results of the second trial operation, plans are in place to enhance and improve the operation method, and increase the effectiveness of the operation to ensure that residents' opinions lead to tangible actions.
Meanwhile, Jeollabuk Special Self-Governing Province is proceeding with follow-up measures for the opinions raised in the first trial operation. They plan to continue post-management by checking compliance status weekly and informing applicants of major changes.
Governor Lee Won-taek of Jeollabuk Special Self-Governing Province stated, "Discussing the current issues raised by residents and making tangible changes together is the important role of the Open Governor's Office," and expressed his commitment to establishing it as a communication platform that residents can feel and utilize in the future.
